Browser Extensions

Corixa provides browser extensions for both Safari and Chrome, letting you save content with a single click.

Available Extensions

Safari Extension

Built into the Corixa app. Enable it in Safari settings - no separate download needed.

Chrome Extension

Available on the Chrome Web Store. Works with Chrome, Brave, Edge, and other Chromium browsers.

Safari Extension

The Safari extension is bundled with the Corixa app and requires no separate installation.

Enable Safari Extension

Open Safari Settings

In Safari, go to Safari menu > Settings (or press Cmd + ,).

Go to Extensions Tab

Click the Extensions tab in the settings window.

Enable Corixa

Find Corixa in the extensions list and check the box to enable it.

Grant Permissions

When prompted, grant the extension permission to access web pages. This is required to read page titles and URLs.

Using the Safari Extension

  1. Navigate to any web page or YouTube video
  2. Click the Corixa icon in Safari's toolbar
  3. The extension popup shows the page title and URL
  4. Select a category from the dropdown
  5. Click Save to Corixa

Extension Not Showing?
If the Corixa extension doesn't appear in Safari settings, make sure the Corixa app is running. Try quitting and reopening Safari after launching Corixa.

Chrome Extension

The Chrome extension is available separately from the Chrome Web Store.

Install Chrome Extension

Visit Chrome Web Store

Go to the Corixa Chrome Extension page on the Chrome Web Store.

Click "Add to Chrome"

Click the blue Add to Chrome button.

Confirm Installation

Click Add extension in the confirmation dialog.

Pin the Extension

Click the puzzle icon in Chrome's toolbar, then click the pin icon next to Corixa for quick access.

Using the Chrome Extension

  1. Navigate to any web page or YouTube video
  2. Click the Corixa icon in Chrome's toolbar (or puzzle menu)
  3. The popup shows the current page information
  4. Select a category
  5. Click Save

Chrome Extension Requirements

  • Corixa app must be running - The extension communicates with the desktop app
  • Native messaging host - Installed automatically with Corixa
App Must Be Running
The Chrome extension requires the Corixa macOS app to be running. If you see "Unable to connect" error, make sure Corixa is open.

Extension Popup Features

Both Safari and Chrome extensions share similar features:

Page Information

  • Title - Automatically detected page title
  • URL - Current page URL
  • Preview - Thumbnail preview (when available)

Category Selection

  • Dropdown shows all your categories
  • Default category is pre-selected
  • YouTube playlists are shown separately (if synced)

Save Confirmation

After saving, you'll see a success message with:

  • Confirmation that the item was saved
  • The category it was saved to
  • Option to open Corixa

Supported Browsers

Safari Extension Works With:

  • Safari 17.0 and later
  • Requires macOS 14.0 (Sonoma) or later

Chrome Extension Works With:

  • Google Chrome - Primary supported browser
  • Microsoft Edge - Chromium-based
  • Brave - Chromium-based
  • Arc - Chromium-based
  • Vivaldi - Chromium-based
  • Any Chromium-based browser supporting Chrome extensions

Extension Permissions

The extensions request minimal permissions:

Permission Purpose
Active Tab Read the current page's title and URL when you click save
Native Messaging Communicate with the Corixa desktop app (Chrome only)
Storage Remember your category preferences
🔒 Privacy First
Extensions only access page data when you click the save button. They don't track your browsing or send data anywhere except to the local Corixa app.

Extension Troubleshooting

Safari Extension Issues

"Extension not showing in toolbar"

  • Make sure Corixa app is running
  • Check Safari Settings > Extensions > Corixa is enabled
  • Try quitting and reopening Safari
  • Right-click the toolbar and customize to add the extension

"Permission denied" errors

  • Go to Safari Settings > Extensions > Corixa
  • Check "Allow on all websites" or add specific sites

Chrome Extension Issues

"Unable to connect to Corixa"

  • Make sure the Corixa app is running
  • Try quitting and reopening Chrome
  • Check that the native messaging host is installed (automatic with Corixa)

"Extension not appearing"

  • Click the puzzle icon and check if Corixa is listed
  • Pin the extension for quick access
  • Try reinstalling from Chrome Web Store
