Corixa includes powerful AI features that work out of the box - no configuration or API keys required:

Corixa's AI features are powered by our secure cloud service. You don't need to create accounts with AI providers or manage API keys - everything works automatically.

How It Works

Corixa uses state-of-the-art AI models including Google Gemini and Anthropic Claude to analyze your content. The AI service is included with the app - there's nothing to configure.

🔒 Privacy & Security
When you request a summary, content is sent through Corixa's secure proxy service for AI processing. Your saved items and summaries remain stored locally on your Mac.

Using AI Summaries

Generating a Summary

Once AI is configured, you can generate summaries for any saved item:

Select an Item

Click on any saved web page or YouTube video to view it in the detail panel.

Click "Summarize"

In the detail panel, click the Summarize button (or use Cmd + Shift + S).

Wait for Analysis

The AI will analyze the content. This usually takes a few seconds depending on content length.

View the Summary

The summary appears in the detail panel and is saved with the item for future reference.

What Gets Summarized

The AI analyzes different content depending on the item type:

Content Type What's Analyzed
Web Pages Page title, description, and main content text
YouTube Videos Video title, description, and auto-generated transcript (if available)
Manual Notes Note title and body text

YouTube Transcript Analysis

Corixa can fetch and analyze YouTube video transcripts, letting you understand video content without watching.

How It Works

  1. Corixa retrieves the video's auto-generated or manual transcript
  2. The transcript is sent to the AI for analysis
  3. You receive a summary of the video's main points

🎥 Transcript Availability
Not all YouTube videos have transcripts. Live streams, some music videos, and videos with disabled captions may not be summarizable. Corixa will notify you if a transcript isn't available.

Working with Summaries

Saved Summaries

AI summaries are automatically saved with each item. You can:

  • View the summary anytime in the detail panel
  • Copy the summary text to clipboard
  • Regenerate the summary if needed

Searching Summaries

Summaries are included in Corixa's search. Search for terms that might appear in summaries to find relevant content.

Regenerating Summaries

If you want a fresh summary (perhaps after switching AI providers), click the regenerate button next to the existing summary.

Batch Summarization

Generate summaries for multiple items at once:

  1. Select multiple items using Cmd + click or Shift + click
  2. Right-click and select Generate Summaries
  3. Summaries will be generated in sequence (to respect API rate limits)
  4. Progress is shown in the status bar
🕑 Processing Time
Batch summarization processes items one at a time to ensure quality. For large selections, this may take a few minutes.

Troubleshooting

Common Issues

Summary Generation Fails

Possible causes:

  • Network connection issue - check your internet connection
  • Content too short - very brief pages may not have enough to summarize
  • Service temporarily unavailable - try again in a few moments

"No Transcript Available" for YouTube

The video doesn't have captions or a transcript. Try a different video or summarize based on the title and description only.

Summaries Are Too Brief

Adjust the Summary Length setting to "Detailed" for more comprehensive summaries.

Privacy Considerations

When using AI features, be aware:

  • Content is sent through Corixa's secure proxy service to AI providers for processing
  • Corixa does not store your content on our servers - it's passed through for AI analysis only
  • Generated summaries are stored locally on your Mac
  • Your saved items never leave your Mac except during AI analysis
