Installation Guide

Get Corixa from the Mac App Store and set it up on your Mac in just a few minutes. This guide covers system requirements, installation, and initial setup.

System Requirements

Before installing Corixa, ensure your Mac meets the following requirements:

RAM 4 GB minimum (8 GB recommended)
Storage 100 MB for app (more for content library)
Network Internet for browser extensions and YouTube sync

Corixa is a native macOS application built with SwiftUI and SwiftData. It runs efficiently on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs.

Get Corixa from the Mac App Store

Corixa is available exclusively on the Mac App Store for easy installation and automatic updates.

Open the Mac App Store

Click the App Store icon in your Dock, or use Spotlight (Cmd + Space) and search for "App Store".

Search for Corixa

Use the search bar in the App Store to find "Corixa" or visit the Corixa product page for a direct link.

Click Get / Install

Click the Get button, then Install. You may need to sign in with your Apple ID or authenticate with Touch ID.

Wait for Installation

Corixa will download and install automatically. Once complete, you'll find it in your Applications folder.

Automatic Updates
Apps from the Mac App Store update automatically. You'll always have the latest version of Corixa with new features and security improvements.

First Launch

After installation, launch Corixa to begin organizing your digital content.

Open Corixa

Open your Applications folder and double-click Corixa, or use Spotlight (Cmd + Space) and type "Corixa". You can also click Open directly from the App Store after installation.

Menu Bar Icon

Corixa will appear in your menu bar. Click the icon to access the quick-save drawer or open the main window.

Add to Dock (Optional)

For quick access, drag Corixa from Applications to your Dock, or right-click the running app icon and select Options > Keep in Dock.

Menu Bar Integration

Corixa lives in your menu bar for instant access to your content library.

Menu Bar Options

Click the Corixa icon in the menu bar to access:

  • Drawer Panel - Quick access panel for saving content
  • Open Main Window - Full application window
  • Save Current Page - Save the current browser tab
  • New Note - Create a manual note
  • Settings - App preferences

Enable Safari Extension

The Safari extension is built into Corixa. Enable it to save web content directly from Safari.

Open Safari Settings

In Safari, go to Safari > Settings (or press Cmd + ,).

Go to Extensions

Click the Extensions tab in the Settings window.

Enable Corixa

Find Corixa in the list and check the box to enable it. You may need to grant permissions when prompted.

Chrome Extension
For Chrome, install the extension separately from the Chrome Web Store. See Browser Extensions for details.

Data Storage

Corixa stores all your data locally on your Mac using SwiftData:

Storage Location

Your Corixa data is stored in:

~/Library/Containers/io.halldor.Corixa/Data/

What's Stored

  • Database - All items, categories, and metadata
  • Thumbnails - Cached images for web pages and videos
  • Backups - Automatic and manual backup files
  • Settings - Your preferences and configuration
Privacy First
All your content is stored locally on your Mac. Corixa doesn't upload your data to external servers. The only network connections are for YouTube sync (when enabled) and AI features (optional).

Uninstalling Corixa

To remove Corixa from your Mac:

Quit Corixa

Make sure Corixa is not running. Right-click the menu bar icon and select Quit, or use Cmd + Q.

Delete the App

Open your Applications folder, find Corixa, and drag it to the Trash. Alternatively, right-click and select Move to Trash.

Remove Data (Optional)

To completely remove all Corixa data including your content library, delete the following folder:

~/Library/Containers/io.halldor.Corixa
Data Deletion Warning
Deleting the Container folder will permanently remove all your saved content, categories, and settings. Consider creating a backup first if you might want to restore your data later.
