1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Corixa ("the Software"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). These Terms apply to the Corixa macOS application and all associated browser extensions.

2. License Grant

2.1 License

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, Corixa grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:

• Download and install the Software on devices you own or control
• Use the Software for personal or commercial purposes
• Install browser extensions on supported browsers

2.2 Restrictions

You agree NOT to:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software
• Modify, adapt, or create derivative works from the Software
• Remove or alter any proprietary notices from the Software
• Use the Software for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
• Distribute, sublicense, lease, or lend the Software to third parties
• Use the Software to violate any applicable laws or regulations

3. User Accounts and Authentication

3.1 No Account Required

Corixa does not require account creation for basic functionality. All data is stored locally on your device.

3.2 Third-Party Authentication

If you choose to connect third-party services (such as YouTube):

• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your third-party credentials
• You grant Corixa permission to access only the data you explicitly authorize
• You can revoke access at any time through your third-party account settings
• We are not responsible for any third-party service's actions or policies

4. User Responsibilities

4.1 Lawful Use

You agree to use Corixa only for lawful purposes and in compliance with:

• All applicable local, state, national, and international laws
• The terms of service of any websites or platforms you interact with
• Copyright laws and intellectual property rights

4.2 Content Responsibility

You are solely responsible for:

• All content you save, organize, or manage using Corixa
• Ensuring you have the right to save and store content
• Compliance with copyright and intellectual property laws
• Any consequences arising from your use of the Software

5. AI Features

5.1 Optional AI Services

Corixa offers optional AI-powered features for content analysis and summarization:

• AI features are completely optional and can be disabled
• When enabled, content may be processed through third-party AI services
• AI-generated summaries are provided "as is" without warranties
• You should not rely solely on AI-generated content for critical decisions

5.2 AI Limitations

We make no guarantees about the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of AI-generated content. You acknowledge that AI outputs may contain errors or inaccuracies.

6. Intellectual Property

6.1 Corixa Ownership

Corixa and all associated intellectual property rights remain the exclusive property of Corixa and its licensors. This includes:

• Software code, design, and architecture
• Trademarks, logos, and branding
• Documentation and user guides
• Updates and improvements

6.2 Your Content

You retain all ownership rights to content you save or create using Corixa. We claim no ownership or rights to your personal data or saved content.

7. Privacy and Data

Your use of Corixa is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the Software, you acknowledge that you have read and understood our privacy practices.

• All data is stored locally on your device
• We do not collect personal information or usage analytics
• You have complete control over your data

8. Updates and Modifications

8.1 Software Updates

Corixa may automatically download and install updates to:

• Fix bugs and security vulnerabilities
• Improve performance and stability
• Add new features or functionality

8.2 Terms Updates

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes through:

• In-app notifications
• Email (if you've subscribed)
• Updates to this page with a new "Last updated" date

Continued use of Corixa after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

CORIXA IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
• Non-infringement of third-party rights
• Uninterrupted or error-free operation
• Accuracy or reliability of results
• Security of data storage

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CORIXA AND ITS DEVELOPERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

• Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
• Loss of profits, data, use, or other intangible losses
• Damages resulting from unauthorized access to your data
• Damages from bugs, viruses, or other harmful components
• Damages from reliance on AI-generated content

IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR CORIXA IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS, OR $100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Corixa and its developers from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

• Your use or misuse of the Software
• Violation of these Terms
• Violation of any third-party rights
• Your content or data

12. Third-Party Services

Corixa integrates with third-party services (YouTube, AI providers, etc.). Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms of service. We are not responsible for:

• Third-party service availability or performance
• Changes to third-party APIs or policies
• Third-party data handling or privacy practices
• Costs associated with third-party services

13. Browser Extensions

Corixa's browser extensions for Safari and Chrome:

• Are subject to the respective browser's extension policies
• May be updated independently of the main application
• Require appropriate browser permissions to function
• Can be uninstalled at any time through browser settings

14. Termination

14.1 Termination by You

You may stop using Corixa at any time by:

• Uninstalling the application
• Removing browser extensions
• Deleting your local data

14.2 Termination by Us

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to Corixa if:

• You violate these Terms
• Your use harms or could harm other users or our services
• Required by law or legal process

15. Export Control

The Software may be subject to export control laws. You agree to comply with all applicable export and import laws and regulations.

16. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Iceland, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

17. Dispute Resolution

17.1 Informal Resolution

If you have any dispute with Corixa, please contact us first at support@corixa.io to attempt informal resolution.

17.2 Arbitration

Any disputes that cannot be resolved informally shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with Icelandic law.

18. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

19. Entire Agreement

These Terms, along with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Corixa regarding the Software and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.

20. No Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of those rights.
